Silverstone RC Arena Opens a New Era
Silverstone RCMCC is set to open its first ever permanent indoor venue for 1/10th off road cars, at Round Spinney, Northampton in February. The well known club has been running since 2011 at Moulton College and been very successful there. They have been hosting one of the best attended winter series in the country and Tuesday club nights which are nearly always oversubscribed with some of the best drivers in the country attending.
The move to the new venue is a long dream of club chairman and well known racer Matt Owen, who says “I would like to thank all the amazing drivers that have supported this great club over the last 6 or so years. Please continue to support us in our new venture, together we'll make it a success and still maintain our high standards of great race meetings. Thanks also to my amazing team and club members, you all make it worth while. Very exciting times ahead!“
The club will now be permanently based at the Silverstone RC Arena and will continue to hold its regular Tuesday night meetings but will now also be able to run a Friday night event too, both of which will open to all racers. The venue will also be open on Saturdays 10am-5pm, for anyone to come down and use the track to practice/test. Timing facilities are available and it will also be available for private hire or team testing days and many other events throughout the year. The now famous winter series will continue to be held at Moulton College.
This is a bold move for the Silverstone club but one that all concerned are sure will succeed. With the professionalism and attention to detail to which they always run their meeting there is no reason why Silverstone RC Arena will not become the premier indoor venue in the UK.
